Lindsay Phillips

Chairman & Managing Director

Lindsay has been involved in private equity for over 30 years, commencing in 1987 with M.J.H. Nightingale & Co. Limited in London/New York and subsequently Australia since 1995. His experience includes seven years (1980-87) with Price Waterhouse and over 30 years in investment banking/ private equity in the United Kingdom, Europe, USA and Australia including five years (2007-12) as Managing Director of Lazard Australia Private Equity. Lindsay is currently Chairman of Nightingale Partners and serves as a Director on the majority of the funds’ investee companies.

Lindsay holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.

Alexander Zaininger

Non-Executive Director

Alex has spent the previous 21 years as a professional company director, often participating as an investor through venture capital funds or personally. 

Prior to this, he worked with the Boston Consulting Group in the Munich and Kuala Lumpur offices focusing primarily on strategy for leading technology companies. Alex also has several years’ operational experience in a wide variety of industries and sits on a number of Nightingale Partners’ portfolio company boards.

Alex earned an MBA from INSEAD as well as Bachelor of Economics and International Affairs from the University of Colorado - Boulder. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Daniel Barrins

Consultant - Hong Kong

Daniel joined Nightingale in 2015 having previously worked at a global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills and in management consulting at PwC. At Nightingale, Daniel is responsible for deal origination, structuring and execution, portfolio company management, investor relations and fund administration. He is on the boards of a number of portfolio companies as both a Director and Company Secretary and sits on the Nightingale Investment Committee. 

 

Daniel holds an M.B.A. from Melbourne Business School (University of Melbourne), a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Francisco Dias Costa

Investment Manager

Francisco began collaborating with Nightingale Partners in 2013 and has worked directly with a number of the fund’s investee companies including Academic Assessment Services, Vehicle Monitoring Systems and Zhik as an independent consultant.

Prior to his collaboration with Nightingale, Francisco lived and worked in Portugal, Norway and Brazil primarily focusing on strategy development and implementation, turnaround projects and senior executive support functions across a variety of industries.

Francisco holds a Bachelor in Management and earned an MBA from BI Norwegian Business School. Francisco has also completed Executive Education programs at Harvard Business School and Fundacao Getulio Vargas.

Matthew Phillips

Investment Analyst

Matt joined Nightingale Partners in 2022 as an Investment Analyst. Being involved in reviewing deals and current investments, Matt also works directly with Aerologix as a Non-executive Director.

Before joining Nightingale, Matt spent 5 years in London, helping grow two start-ups in the Fintech and Regtech space, exiting the Fintech (Moola) to JLT in 2019. Following this Matt worked as a consultant for a SaaS business, helping them to establish operations in the UK, Europe, South Africa, and North America. 

Matt holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Professional Accounting degree from Macquarie University including completing part of his studies at the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE) in Lisbon, Portugal.

David Falk

Investment Analyst 

David began working at Nightingale Partners as an Investment Analyst in 2020. David is primarily responsible for portfolio company management, due diligence, deal documentation and legal matters.

David joined Nightingale Partners with five years of legal practice experience across insolvency, litigation, commercial loans and security, and general private practice, and most recently worked in a global IT Distributor’s In-House Legal Team for Asia-Pacific.

David is in his final year of the Legal Profession Admissions Board’s Diploma in Law Course and intends to gain admission as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
